Worry Free, Healthy Me

It has been a little over a month since I started my externship! I have learned so much in the last 5 weeks and I'm excited to learn so much more. I really hope I get hired at my externship site. They have been hinting at hiring me and a few things have been said but nothing official has been said yet. If I don't get hired there I'm still thankful for the opportunity and am sure I'll get hired somewhere in the area. Since the externship started I have progressed more than I thought I would. Things I didn't think I'd be doing right now but am: *sending out samples for results *doing some callbacks to see how patients are doing *taking a client and patient to a room and then getting a history and TPR on my own *drawing blood *monitoring in patients and patients coming out of surgery I still have more ways to go but I am really proud of all my accomplishments so far. Yay! I secured my externship! I'm so excited to have been able to secure one so soon and so thankful. In this post I'm going to be talking about what I did during the process, including the externship packets I made for the veterinary clinics. First: Make a list of the veterinary clinics you would like to work at in your area. Find out their credentials and what services they offer. Find out who the medical director is at every site and make sure to double and triple check . I checked on the clinic's website, with what is listed on the BBB, and I even checked facebook! At one site I still had the wrong doctor's name even after triple checking.  Prepare your cover letter. Make sure to address the letter to the doctor you will be talking to . Also, triple check your spelling and grammatical errors and make sure to have at least two other people check them as well!
