Externship Update

It has been a little over a month since I started my externship! I have learned so much in the last 5 weeks and I'm excited to learn so much more. I really hope I get hired at my externship site. They have been hinting at hiring me and a few things have been said but nothing official has been said yet. If I don't get hired there I'm still thankful for the opportunity and am sure I'll get hired somewhere in the area.

Since the externship started I have progressed more than I thought I would.
Things I didn't think I'd be doing right now but am:
*sending out samples for results
*doing some callbacks to see how patients are doing
*taking a client and patient to a room and then getting a history and TPR on my own
*drawing blood
*monitoring in patients and patients coming out of surgery

I still have more ways to go but I am really proud of all my accomplishments so far. I will be publishing an official post once I'm done with my results but I just wanted to do a little update now. ☺

LASIK: Three Week Review

So on May 27th I had my LASIK surgery! I'm going to write the great, the good, the bad, and the ugly. The Day Of The morning of the surgery I woke up very early to make the 1.5 hour drive the where the center was. They said to make sure to eat the morning of because they didn't want the valium to make my stomach upset. I managed to get some nuts, granola, and some other snacks down. I was really nervous so eating a bit was hard. If I could do it again I would have eaten an actual breakfast! I didn't eat enough and afterwards I was very nauseous. When I finally got to the clinic I waited about a half an hour after my appointment time to be seen. I wasn't in a huge hurry just very anxious and the wait didn't help. I already new what to expect but I just wanted it done and over with. I was finally called in and we went over some paperwork that I had to sign, they made sure I knew about all the risks involved, I made the payment, and then they gave me a little happ...

Mexican Cruise Day 4: Mazatlan, Mexico

Day four was Mazatlan! Early in the morning we got off the ship for our excursion.   We went to an all inclusive beach resort.  They had people bringing your drinks out to you while you laid on the beach! It was amazing! They even had a heated pool with a swim up bar. The excursion lasted almost all day. After the excursion we headed back to the ship. On the way there the bus driver gave us a 20 minute tour. I don't really remember the tour because I was so exhausted I fell asleep but Jake said it was great! Once we got back on the ship we took a little nap and woke up in time for supper. They made me a creamy asparagus soup all dairy free! I love asparagus so I was really excited to be able to enjoy it.
