Making the Best: Previous Job Offer, Back-Up Plans, and LASIK

So a few things have happened in the last couple weeks: I turned 25, my job offer fell through, and I'm now having surgery.

Part way through the day of my birthday (May 5th) my Husband had to work a 24 hour shift but we made the best of it. I went and picked up food and we ate at his work place. Then that weekend we went out to eat at my favorite restaurant and he tried the food for the first time. We got two plates and split them. He actually really liked it. If you are in the middle Tennessee area check out Don't Have A Cow. We also started grilling out that weekend too. Lately we've been grilling every weekend. Some of the food may not be the healthiest but it is a great family tradition to start.

Vegan non-chicken patty, baked beans, and grilled pineapple.

On my birthday it was me and Lando playing in the yard.

My job offer fell through the morning after my birthday. At least it wasn't on my birthday?.. I found out that it's because I have epilepsy even though the last seizure I had was ten years ago. Normally it would be illegal for them to do that because I'm covered under the Disability Act but since it's a federal job they are exempt. I think it's completely ridiculous since I 1. wouldn't be having a weapon 2. If I did happen to have a seizure it wouldn't harm anyone and 3. My medication works so well someone else is basically just as likely to have a seizure as I am.

Even though the job offer fell through (which would have helped pay the bills, insurance, etc while my husband went through college) we do have a back-up plan that we are starting now. I will talk about that in a later post though.

The weekend of my birthday my husband and I decided I should probably have eye surgery now rather than later. I went to a consultation a week ago and found out I am a perfect candidate for LASIK. I will be having the surgery May 27th (That's in about 1 week!). I am a little nervous but I am excited too. Jake and I really think it will help me in all areas of life since my vision is so horrible now. I will write more on that later as well.

Well as for the healthy side of this post:

Jake and I have been doing really well with remembering to have our green smoothies every day. They may not look green but the greens are in there! Lately I've been experimenting with spinach too. Jake is requesting them and actually enjoying them. Lately I've been trying out smoothie bowls. Basically, it's a smoothie in a bowl with toppings.

Toppings are: banana and flax seed

Well that is all for now. I will write another post this week about mine and Jake's back up plan.

Externship Update

It has been a little over a month since I started my externship! I have learned so much in the last 5 weeks and I'm excited to learn so much more. I really hope I get hired at my externship site. They have been hinting at hiring me and a few things have been said but nothing official has been said yet. If I don't get hired there I'm still thankful for the opportunity and am sure I'll get hired somewhere in the area. Since the externship started I have progressed more than I thought I would. Things I didn't think I'd be doing right now but am: *sending out samples for results *doing some callbacks to see how patients are doing *taking a client and patient to a room and then getting a history and TPR on my own *drawing blood *monitoring in patients and patients coming out of surgery I still have more ways to go but I am really proud of all my accomplishments so far. I will be publishing an official post once I'm done with my results but I just wanted

Warrior Challenge Obstacle Course and Mud Run

Today my husband and I completed the Warrior Challenge Obstacle Course and Mud Run! We got there at 07:30 bright and early. Before we went I ate a little bit of fruit and packed some things we might need (lots of towels, baby wipes, eye drops, snacks for afterwards, water, and electrolytes). I really enjoyed myself and it was empowering to accomplish it! Jake and I did it together all the way through. I'm so thankful that I have such an amazing husband that is so patient with me and helped me all the way through the event. The event was just short of 6 miles. It had over ten obstacles and included mud pits and a run through the woods that was very muddy! At the end we got some free water, Gatorade, fruit, snacks, and beer! I was very surprised but my Fitbit Surge held up pretty well! The only thing is when we got sprayed with water at the end, the force of the water must have hit one of the buttons and it turned off my Fitbit. That was as we were crossing the finis

Arizona 2.0

Since I've last posted there have been a few major changes and events that have happened. I have vacationed in the Bahamas, we have moved to Arizona, have bought a house, and have donated my hair. I've been meaning to update this blog for a while but now here I am watching Rome, drinking some cranberry juice, and typing on my laptop. Jake got a position in Southern Arizona as a contractor so we moved here and decided to buy a house. We looked at houses online for about a month before we found this one. It had everything we wanted in a house which was difficult to find. We did a virtual tour before deciding to put down an offer. It was accepted! Then we flew out to Arizona to walk through the home twice before going back to Tennessee and packing up all our stuff. After three days and both mine and Jake's cars breaking down in Texas we finally made it to Arizona. We lived out of a hotel for about a month. Because we were staying there so long, we received a special ra
