ACE Fitness

In one of my earlier posts I said that I am going to school to become a Certified Personal Trainer. I am taking online classes through the American Council on Exercise (ACE).  I am loving it so far! I bought the premium package and it included all the study materials plus a CEC math class, an online syllabus, and even videos/lectures that I can view online. It also came with a re-take exam voucher just in case I don't pass the first time.

I am on lesson 10 now. I am going over Chapter 7 in the ACE Personal Trainer Manual and have already completed the Exercise Science portion. I am doing about one lesson a week. I take my quiz for the lesson on Friday and then on the weekends I review all of the Exercise Science book and Personal Trainer Manual. You can do it at your own pace but if I don't structure the lessons for myself I will probably fall behind.

The schedule I have set up works pretty well for me but it took me longer than a week to go through a lesson when I was doing Exercise Science. It took me about three weeks for me to get through Anatomy and that was the hardest portion for me. The easiest portion for me from Exercise Science was Exercise Physiology.

The reason why I love ACE so much is that you can do it at your own pace. So if I want to take longer than a week I can. They also have study assistance. You can call, email, or go to the study center on Facebook. I like going to the Facebook study center because other people might be asking questions that I haven't thought of to ask. There is also a private Facebook group where everyone helps each other study and motivates each other. To get to the Facebook group click here.

That is my review of ACE so far. I will post again as I get further along in my lessons.

Note: This post is not sponsored by ACE Fitness. This is simply my review of the classes so far.

Externship Update

It has been a little over a month since I started my externship! I have learned so much in the last 5 weeks and I'm excited to learn so much more. I really hope I get hired at my externship site. They have been hinting at hiring me and a few things have been said but nothing official has been said yet. If I don't get hired there I'm still thankful for the opportunity and am sure I'll get hired somewhere in the area. Since the externship started I have progressed more than I thought I would. Things I didn't think I'd be doing right now but am: *sending out samples for results *doing some callbacks to see how patients are doing *taking a client and patient to a room and then getting a history and TPR on my own *drawing blood *monitoring in patients and patients coming out of surgery I still have more ways to go but I am really proud of all my accomplishments so far. I will be publishing an official post once I'm done with my results but I just wanted

Arizona 2.0

Since I've last posted there have been a few major changes and events that have happened. I have vacationed in the Bahamas, we have moved to Arizona, have bought a house, and have donated my hair. I've been meaning to update this blog for a while but now here I am watching Rome, drinking some cranberry juice, and typing on my laptop. Jake got a position in Southern Arizona as a contractor so we moved here and decided to buy a house. We looked at houses online for about a month before we found this one. It had everything we wanted in a house which was difficult to find. We did a virtual tour before deciding to put down an offer. It was accepted! Then we flew out to Arizona to walk through the home twice before going back to Tennessee and packing up all our stuff. After three days and both mine and Jake's cars breaking down in Texas we finally made it to Arizona. We lived out of a hotel for about a month. Because we were staying there so long, we received a special ra

Finishing School, Yard Work, and Getting Back Into Running

I'm hoping to get back into the weekly recaps now that I have finished the academic portion of my schooling. Yes, that's right! I've finished the academic portion of my studies and now it's just time for my clinical studies! Last week I finished my last exam and this past week I've been updating my resume, making cover letters, getting paperwork together, and going into the veterinary hospitals and clinics in my area. So I figured what great way to celebrate this achievement by sitting down with a cup of coffee and writing a little blog post. Let's take this post back to last Monday, the 14th of August. Monday was a pretty great day considering it is when I took my final exam! I got a 96%. Even though I got one question wrong and could prove that I answered correctly with my textbook I'm still pretty happy with my grade. I also uploaded a new vlog on my youtube channel of my previous week while eating breakfast outside with the kitti
