Life Update: Family, School, Work

Well it's been quite a while since I last wrote. After we got settled down here I picked up a job unpacking, cleaning, and organizing a family's house. I'm finally done besides everything in the garage. Yay! I'm just waiting on them to remove empty boxes then I can get started on that section and be done!

I had to take a leave of absence though because there was a family emergency and I had to fly back to Wisconsin last minute. Two of my relatives passed away but thankfully I was able to see them one last time.

After getting back from Wisconsin I started back on the house I'm working on and finished with that. Then I tried to catch up on my school work. When I was almost all caught up on my schoolwork Lando got sick. So needless to say I'm a bit behind again.

We noticed Lando has been drinking more water than usual lately and hes been taking a bit longer to use the litterbox. However, he wasnt crying in pain, he was still urinating, and there wasn't any blood in his urine. Then, last Sunday night I noticed he was cleaning himself with his urethra completely exposed. That isn't normal and that was what Ninja was doing before he passed. So I called the Vet immediately and set up a date for him to be seen. In the meantime I kept monitoring him and his urine output. It took two vet visits because he gets so scared and wound up at the vet but they managed to get a urinalysis done. This past Saturday (29 October) we found out the results: Lando doesn't have a UTI nor does he have blood in his urine but they did find a crystal. Our Veterinarian diagnosed him with FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease). Now he is being put on a prescription diet to hopefully break down the crystal and prevent future ones from occurring. He is currently refusing to eat the prescription wet food but we will keep trying. He is already loving the dry food. He is currently using the samples from the vet but we will be buying his dry and wet prescription food by the end of the week.

Now that Lando has been seen by the Veterinarian and we have an action plan in place I can concentrate more on my schooling. I got quite a bit done today and am very proud of myself. I even had enough time afterwards to start catching up on some notecards that I'm behind on. Lately I've been using Cram for my notecards and I am loving it! It's so easy and convenient. Plus I'm able to have my notecards with me every where I go by just installing the app on my phone. I find it easier to make the cards on my laptop and then just quiz myself on my phone.

Well that is all for now. I will make sure to write again by the end of the week!

Externship Update

It has been a little over a month since I started my externship! I have learned so much in the last 5 weeks and I'm excited to learn so much more. I really hope I get hired at my externship site. They have been hinting at hiring me and a few things have been said but nothing official has been said yet. If I don't get hired there I'm still thankful for the opportunity and am sure I'll get hired somewhere in the area. Since the externship started I have progressed more than I thought I would. Things I didn't think I'd be doing right now but am: *sending out samples for results *doing some callbacks to see how patients are doing *taking a client and patient to a room and then getting a history and TPR on my own *drawing blood *monitoring in patients and patients coming out of surgery I still have more ways to go but I am really proud of all my accomplishments so far. I will be publishing an official post once I'm done with my results but I just wanted

Warrior Challenge Obstacle Course and Mud Run

Today my husband and I completed the Warrior Challenge Obstacle Course and Mud Run! We got there at 07:30 bright and early. Before we went I ate a little bit of fruit and packed some things we might need (lots of towels, baby wipes, eye drops, snacks for afterwards, water, and electrolytes). I really enjoyed myself and it was empowering to accomplish it! Jake and I did it together all the way through. I'm so thankful that I have such an amazing husband that is so patient with me and helped me all the way through the event. The event was just short of 6 miles. It had over ten obstacles and included mud pits and a run through the woods that was very muddy! At the end we got some free water, Gatorade, fruit, snacks, and beer! I was very surprised but my Fitbit Surge held up pretty well! The only thing is when we got sprayed with water at the end, the force of the water must have hit one of the buttons and it turned off my Fitbit. That was as we were crossing the finis

Arizona 2.0

Since I've last posted there have been a few major changes and events that have happened. I have vacationed in the Bahamas, we have moved to Arizona, have bought a house, and have donated my hair. I've been meaning to update this blog for a while but now here I am watching Rome, drinking some cranberry juice, and typing on my laptop. Jake got a position in Southern Arizona as a contractor so we moved here and decided to buy a house. We looked at houses online for about a month before we found this one. It had everything we wanted in a house which was difficult to find. We did a virtual tour before deciding to put down an offer. It was accepted! Then we flew out to Arizona to walk through the home twice before going back to Tennessee and packing up all our stuff. After three days and both mine and Jake's cars breaking down in Texas we finally made it to Arizona. We lived out of a hotel for about a month. Because we were staying there so long, we received a special ra
