Tree Lighting Ceremony and Christmas Parade | Blogmas #4

This past week has been great. After all it's the start of the Christmas season! What more could you ask for? :)

This past week I started volunteering at the shelter.

I started on Tuesday. It was a bit chilly out but after walking two miles I was warmed up. I walked a dog named Pebbles both days I was there. She's such a sweet old lady. <3

I ordered a heated cat house on Amazon for Cyber Monday and it came in the mail on Wednesday! I'm still trying to get our little stray kitty to get used to it. She (or he) is very skittish and not trusting of humans so I figured any new addition to our patio was going to take some time. She will go inside to get her food though so I've been putting her food in there right before she comes at night so she can at least eat her food and get some warmth.

Lando caught me wrapping his one of his Christmas presents!

Wednesday night I made myself some orange chicken and vegetable spring rolls with brown rice. It was delicious.

Thursday morning Lando was crying to go outside but it was about 30℉ so I put his winter coat on over his harness so he was safe and warm. I've had some people ask me where I purchased his winter coat. I got it last December (2015) at Target.

I spent the rest of the day cleaning and doing schoolwork. I also unpacked these mugs that we bought this summer at a garage sale and then forgot about. They are so pretty.

When I was taking pictures of the house Lando was kneading his blanket.

Friday morning I woke up to kitty cuddles! I love being a cat Mom. I then made myself some of my favorite tea and got the house in order.

Later that day Jake and I went to a tree lighting ceremony.

The trees were beautifully decorated, the band was great, and we had a wonderful time.

Later that night I changed the sheets on the bed. To Lando, this means play time.

The next morning there was snow on the mountains! It was so beautiful!

To finish off our week, Saturday night Jake and I went to the annual Christmas parade! I completely forgot my coat, hat, and gloves so I was freezing! All I had was a scarf and a hoodie but the cold was so worth it!

All the lights and floats were amazing! Jake and I pretty much had a great time. Some people came over part way through the parade and they were starting to put a damper on things but we tried to tune them out and they eventually went away. I really dislike it when people are so toxic and try to ruin something that is supposed to be fun for everyone. But Jake and I weren't going to let them ruin our fun. We had a great week and thoroughly enjoyed the festivities.

Next weekend Jake's Dad is coming to visit so we will be having even more Christmas fun!

Externship Update

It has been a little over a month since I started my externship! I have learned so much in the last 5 weeks and I'm excited to learn so much more. I really hope I get hired at my externship site. They have been hinting at hiring me and a few things have been said but nothing official has been said yet. If I don't get hired there I'm still thankful for the opportunity and am sure I'll get hired somewhere in the area. Since the externship started I have progressed more than I thought I would. Things I didn't think I'd be doing right now but am: *sending out samples for results *doing some callbacks to see how patients are doing *taking a client and patient to a room and then getting a history and TPR on my own *drawing blood *monitoring in patients and patients coming out of surgery I still have more ways to go but I am really proud of all my accomplishments so far. I will be publishing an official post once I'm done with my results but I just wanted

Warrior Challenge Obstacle Course and Mud Run

Today my husband and I completed the Warrior Challenge Obstacle Course and Mud Run! We got there at 07:30 bright and early. Before we went I ate a little bit of fruit and packed some things we might need (lots of towels, baby wipes, eye drops, snacks for afterwards, water, and electrolytes). I really enjoyed myself and it was empowering to accomplish it! Jake and I did it together all the way through. I'm so thankful that I have such an amazing husband that is so patient with me and helped me all the way through the event. The event was just short of 6 miles. It had over ten obstacles and included mud pits and a run through the woods that was very muddy! At the end we got some free water, Gatorade, fruit, snacks, and beer! I was very surprised but my Fitbit Surge held up pretty well! The only thing is when we got sprayed with water at the end, the force of the water must have hit one of the buttons and it turned off my Fitbit. That was as we were crossing the finis

Arizona 2.0

Since I've last posted there have been a few major changes and events that have happened. I have vacationed in the Bahamas, we have moved to Arizona, have bought a house, and have donated my hair. I've been meaning to update this blog for a while but now here I am watching Rome, drinking some cranberry juice, and typing on my laptop. Jake got a position in Southern Arizona as a contractor so we moved here and decided to buy a house. We looked at houses online for about a month before we found this one. It had everything we wanted in a house which was difficult to find. We did a virtual tour before deciding to put down an offer. It was accepted! Then we flew out to Arizona to walk through the home twice before going back to Tennessee and packing up all our stuff. After three days and both mine and Jake's cars breaking down in Texas we finally made it to Arizona. We lived out of a hotel for about a month. Because we were staying there so long, we received a special ra
